Glasgow Poetry Book Group meets every two months to discuss contemporary poetry. For each meeting we choose a collection, or sometimes two pamphlets, to discuss. We like to read recently published work and often pick debut collections to contrast with more established writers. We get ideas of what to read from prize shortlists such as the Forward prize, the T.S. Eliot prize, the Michael Marks award amongst others, as well as from poetry publisher websites (see below).

Everyone is welcome. You don’t need specialist knowledge or qualifications to join in, just an interest in reading and discussing contemporary poetry. We usually meet on the last or second last Wednesday of the month (January, March, May, July, September, November). At the moment we meet in the CCA bar but that may change in the future – look out for the lastest posts for details.

The book group is run by Vicki Husband and Mark Russell.
